INTRO

Renowned multi-instrumentalist (drums, vibraphone, marimba) and composer Jorge Rossy unveils a new quartet! After years of leading and co-leading acclaimed collaborations, from duo partnerships to trios and quintets, Rossy turns to the vibraphone and marimba in a quartet format featuring Milena Casado on trumpet, Robert Landfermann on bass, and Cornelia Nilsson on drums. The ensemble explores a wide spectrum of roles for the mallet instruments - at times sharing the frontline with trumpet, at others providing harmonic and rhythmic support within the ensemble. Landfermann’s extraordinary versatility broadens the group’s sonic range, while Casado and Nilsson, two exceptional younger musicians, bring a fresh perspective and deep musical intuition. Although Rossy has performed with each of them individually, this project marks their first collaboration as a unit - a creative meeting place shaped by Rossy’s distinctive compositions and arrangements, designed to invite open exploration and collective discovery.

REVIEWS

“For this set of original compositions, Jossy knew that he needed three soloists, not just a rhythm section, for the set to be a completely balanced affair. As he did when playing drums, his own contributions unfold in elegant waves, made up of minimal phrases all chosen with care. This is a stylish, cool album, an exciting development in Rossy’s varied musical life. Highly recommended.”

“Eine ruhige Trioplatte, die mich immer wieder an Bill Evans’ Trio denken lässt, ohne besondere musikalische Nähe dazu zu haben. Die durchgängie Ruhe heißt an keiner Stelle Langeweile, man hört die Spannung, an deren Aufbau allen drei Musikern gelegen ist. […] Immer wieder verbreitet mal ein Stück auch gepflegten Swing, aber den Gesamteindruck der Platte dominiert ihre enorme Ruhe und künstlerische Kraft.”
